There are some contemporary British made designs have appeared recently on the market. Log burning boiler with heat accumulator Typically the boiler is hand loaded with logs and then fired. The heat produced is stored in a water tank called an accumulator or buffer store. One load of logs is intended to raise the water in the accumulator to its working temperature of around 90 degrees C. The fire is then allowed to go out. The heat for the property is drawn from the accumulator until the water temperature drops and the boiler must be re fired to begin the cycle again. The frequency of boiler firing depends upon the heat demand, the accumulator, and the ambient temperature.
